Today is a national holiday in Hungary. We remember on this they to the revolution and independence war of Hungary in 1848/49 from the Habsburg rule. There were several revolutions in that year against their monarchs by many nations, and the Hungarian revolution was almost successful, but in the end with Russian aid the Habsburgs were able to stabilize their power.
The main reason behind the revolution was to abolish the old feudal system used in the 19th century Hungary. This prevented many people from getting lands and prevented the industrial development too in the country. But the emperor supported the old fashioned regime. This in the wake of nationalism among middle class people lead to the revolution and separatism from the empire.

It is a cover of a song of a hungarian alternative rock? band,called Quimby, by Csík Zenekar. Csík Zenekar is a hungarian folk music band, and well, they are pretty good :). Actually they are mindfreakingly awesome.

The Hungarian blog - The introduction

Okay, maybe this blog should be called the hungary blog, because it is all about hungary and it is in english. I created this blog to show all the people interested in Hungary why it is a really good place to live and what things are interesting here. A little bit about culture, places, foods, maybe daily life or whatever comes. I don't know. I am a busy person though so posts might come few and far between, but I hope I can keep this blog alive, and put some interesting stuff up here.
